May this be the last of the deep snow.

I got it into my head last week that Gilly & I should go out into the woods, a thing we’ve been unable to do for two months now because of the sharp ice crust and impossible depths. The top crust eased, and I figured the second crust a foot or so down would hold us: it did hold Gilly, but for a good 3/4 of a mile, I was fording waist-deep.

Still, Gilly’s joy in snow is irrepressible.

And we both slept well.
